Recreating an iconic photo

47 years ago, a limo pulled up to a shop on State Street and Joni Mitchell climbed out, looking for ice skates. Mitchell had played in Madison the night before, then canceled the rest of her tour. Maybe she wanted to take out her rage on frozen Lake Mendota. Maybe she just wanted to teach her feet to fly.
